Porcelain Veneers
What problem can porcelain veneers fix?
Porcelain veneers are a common solution in cosmetic dentistry and can be used to solve a variety of mouth issues:
- Discoloured or unnatural looking teeth.
- Dull teeth worn down by aging
- Crooked or misaligned teeth
- Lengthen the appearance of shorter teeth
- Chipped or broken teeth
- Close gaps between teeth
Why porcelain veneers?
Stain resistant
Porcelain as a material is not only very smooth, but is also highly resistant to permanent staining. You can enjoy the little indulgence in life such as coffee, tea and wine without worrying about stains. With regular brushing and care, stains and plaque will not build up on the porcelain surface.
Natural Appearance
They can have the translucent and opalescent look associated with real teeth and refresh your smile to a new, natural and more youthful appearance.

Crowns
Dr Burgess is a perfectionist with over 25 years of dental experience who will strive to give you the most natural looking, comfortable, long lasting dental crown available.
A crown is a type of dental restoration which completely caps or encircles a tooth or dental implant. Crowns are often needed when a large cavity threatens the ongoing health of a tooth. They are typically bonded to the tooth using a dental cement. Crowns can be made from many materials the most common is porcelain. Crowns are often used to improve the strength or appearance of teeth.
The most common method of crowning a tooth involves using a dental impression of a prepared tooth by Dr Burgess to fabricate the crown outside of the mouth. The crown is then inserted at a subsequent dental appointment. Using this indirect method of tooth restoration allows use of strong restorative materials requiring time consuming fabrication methods requiring intense heat, such as firing porcelain which would not be
possible to complete inside the mouth. Although no dental restoration lasts forever, the average lifespan of a crown is around 10 years.
Placing a dental crown should never be rushed. Both the temporary and permanent crown should be placed carefully with smooth edges that sit flush to the gum margins ensuring that future gum swelling and infection does not occur.
Bridges
As the name suggests a bridge is a floating artificial tooth that is used to replace a missing or extracted tooth by cementing it permanently to adjacent healthy teeth.
It is important you receive the correct oral hygiene instruction where you will learn how to keep not only around the bridge but also under the bridge clean with super floss and interdental brushes.
Placing a dental bridge should never be rushed. Both the temporary and permanent crown on either side of the bridge should be placed with smooth edges, precision and care of the gum margins ensuring that future gum swelling and infection does not occur.
Dr Burgess will strive to give you the most natural looking, comfortable, long lasting ‘crown and bridge’ work available
Implants
There are now more options to replace missing teeth and one that is gaining in popularity is the Dental Implant. Dental Implants are usually made of titanium and are surgically placed by a Dentist. These screw-like parts are placed into the jawbone and are meant to imitate the root of the tooth. Once the site has healed Dr Burgess then fixes a crown, replicating a natural looking tooth.
Dr Burgess is able to perform the entire Dental Implant surgery right here in our Mittagong Practice.
We provide a number of solutions to replace missing teeth including multiple dental tooth implants and implant supported dentures.
There are several factors that will determine the length of time needed for an implant procedure;
- Your dental health
- The number of teeth involved
- Which teeth are replaced
- If there will be a tooth extracted prior to implant placement.
These factors will also determine the total number of visits to the dentist throughout the treatment period
